Taken by the Sea.

If my path is crossed by a visit of your ghost
If I dream and its of life not bound by sense
and I am dragged into the ocean by those waves
I will make myself a raft to carry me over
and should I drift past the shore where you sometimes wait
I shall offer to take you on board

If you take my hand with thoughts of sailing together
I will be your saviour or captain whatever you need of me
If slowly you start to forget I am there and continue the voyage
I will not look to change the course and I will quietly abandon ship
If you want to pay your fare I will not seek to collect any recompense

If however you see my raft and I'm flying the colours of my family
With the wind that passes through them blowing your way
and you still make the decision that you will not join me
Remember that at that moment the wind will change
I will be blown away from you bound for other shores

But if as I grow closer and you feel the need to signal
that if with anticipation you can feel the breeze in your hair
If you are taken with excitement that this new wind is refreshing
Know that when I arrive I can build a fire that will warm you and protect you
One that cannot be put out and will only grow larger
Even storms and rain will not stop it raging
It will join with yours and we will make a fire that roars with authoritative voice
and forever it will burn between us ignoring the cold constant passage of time
